The Difference Between HRV & ERV
HRVs and ERVs are similar devices. Both supply fresh air and exhaust stale air. The primary difference is that an HRV warms or cools the incoming air. An ERV warms or cools the air as well, but it also limits humidity coming into your home in summer and keeps your home from becoming too dry in winter.

Frequently Asked Questions
A heat recovery ventilator draws fresh outdoor air into a central unit. It then filters and disperses that fresh air throughout your home. At the same time, a separate exhaust fan inside the unit removes an equal volume of stale, contaminated indoor air and exhausts it outdoors.
Many factors go into the decision between an ERV and HRV. Yes, your local climate matters, but other factors like when your house was built, the type of heating system you have, and the size of your household contribute to what recovery system will work best for you.
